Today, we’re sharing a quick guide on how to enjoy the gorgeous Panama City beach weather during every season, making this your 365-day vacation destination!
Panama City Beach in the Summer
Of course, when school lets out and the days get long, PCB is the place to be!
There’s nothing quite like a few weeks spent here, lounging on the white sand beaches and splashing in the shallow water. In all, there are around 27 miles of coastline to explore, so pick a spot, pack a picnic and soak it all in!
When you need to stretch your legs, head to the Russell-Fields Pier. Located on the waterfront, this iconic landmark is also called the City Pier. Along with the nearby M.B. Miller Pier (County Pier), these two structures are the longest twin fishing piers located on the Gulf of Mexico, stretching nearly 1,500 feet into the ocean!
Across the street, you’ll find the picturesque Pier Park, offering plenty of delectable eats and great shopping.
If you’re more of the adventurous type, why not fill your summer in PCB with watersports?
There are plenty of rental companies offering kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards to use! You can also find a range of kid-friendly amusement and water parks, including Cobra Adventure Park and Shipwreck Island Waterpark.
During this season, you can also book excellent boat tours. These allow you to get up-close-and-personal with marine life, visit wreck diving sites or try your hand at sailing!
Visiting in the Fall
Don’t let the shorter days fool you! Panama City Beach is still a prime spot to vacation, even as summer gives way to fall.
In fact, this is one of the best times of the year to visit PCB! It’s past peak tourist season but you still have access to all the shops, restaurants and activities, not to mention world-class golfing.
During the fall, the water is still surprisingly warm. There are also plenty of seasonal events going on during this time of year, offering something for everyone.
If you love seafood, you can’t miss the Lobster Festival and Tournament, held by local favorite Schooners Beach Club. In 2020, it’s October 12 through 18! The week before, check out the Pirates of the High Seas Fest, a free festival held October 9 through 11 filled with live music, pirate parades, costumes, and more!
When you’ve had your fill of festivities, held into nature for a little reflection. St. Andrews State Park is gorgeous and comfortable in the fall, making it the perfect spot for a quick hike. Keep your eyes open for the myriad species of marine life that call the spot home!
Visiting in the Winter
Winter might be the coolest season in PCB, but it’s still a great place to vacation. For one, the weather is still comfortable enough for an afternoon beach stroll, and fewer crowds mean you could have a stretch of sand all to yourself!
Another reason to stay and play? Winter is a great season to explore all of PCB’s indoor attractions, which are plentiful enough to take you from night to day.
Start your adventure at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Odditorium and enjoy all the unusual exhibits on display. Then, catch an IMAX flick at The Grand Theatre or challenge the crew to a game of bowling at Rock’It Lanes! There are also great local museums to visit, including the interactive Wonderworks and The Man in The Sea Museum.
When the sun goes down, PCB’s nightlife truly shines. From live music and karaoke to mini-golf and go-carting, you won’t leave bored.
Staying over Thanksgiving weekend? Be sure to visit Aaron Bessant Park for the annual Beach Home for the Holidays festival. This family event is filled with caroling concerts, s’mores, Santa visits and kids activities, beloved by locals and tourists alike.
Visiting in the Spring
As winter gives way to spring, the warmer weather encourages everyone to dip their toes in the sand! You won’t find a more gorgeous place to do so than PCB.
Locals love ushering in this new season with a slew of family-friendly festivals, including the Emerald Coast Cruizin’ (March 4-7, 2020), where you’ll find fun cruise-ins, concerts, vendors, food, parties and more! There’s also the annual PCB Scottish Festival (March 7, 2020), Seabreeze Jazz Festival (April 22-26, 2020) and Sandjam Fest!
Held April 24-26, 2020, Sandjam Fest is held on the County Pier and features performances from some of the biggest adult-alternative rock bands around. In its third year, this festival lets hang with friends and you get your groove on, all while overlooking the beautiful seaside.
With so many options to choose from, it’s easy to see why spring is known as “event season” in PCB. It’s the ideal way to kick-off the warm weather and usher in the spectacular summer!
